Up the lane ~ part 2

We amble along the Public Footpath around the edge of the gently sloping field full of ripening grain. We hear the far off voices of children flying a kite in perfect windy weather. Occasionally the sky darkens and we feel a few spots of rain but then it brightens up again.  Down to the tiny fishing pools hidden away at the bottom of the slope and so tempting to Mr Dante who loves to swim in them. Along the footbridge to look at the horses quietly grazing over the wire fence. Onwards up the far side of the field to where a few wooden houses huddle together and chickens and ducks are kept by some of the inhabitants. Back down the lane again, peering into hedgerows for more seasonal delights. Our pace has slowed down even further now as legs and feet start to feel tired. We pause for a while in the  churchyard for a rest and I gather lots of fallen horse chestnuts and notice the pretty pink flowers placed on a simple gravestone. On to the final stretch now and a welcome cup of coffee once we arrive back home. The cats all yawn and stretch, check out the activity and curl back up again. I slept more soundly last night than I have done in a long time.
